Beiden hebben een grote liefde voor mensen en vooral ook voor kinderen, die in omstandigheden verkeren waar zij wat hulp en inspiratie kunnen gebruiken om hun leven en hun dromen vervolgens op een zelfstandige en onafhankelijke wijze vol passie te kunnen vervolgen.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div><em>Leslie Midghall (community worker) and Alice Konijnenberg (general practitioner) founded the Pennywhistle Project Foundation in 2011. Verder heeft hij veel training en ervaring in het opzetten van projecten voor de gemeente zoals jeugdcentra, een skatebaan en vele andere. Momenteel is hij actief in het begeleiden van mensen met o.a. autisme en syndroom van Down als \u2018buddy\u2019 en met muziek en toneel. Lez werkt vanuit zijn hart.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div style=\"font-family: Karla, sans-serif; color: #333333; margin: 0.8em 0px;\">\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>Alice heeft als arts ook veel ervaring in het werken met mensen. Zij heeft veel gereisd over de wereld. Zij woont haar hele leven in en om Amsterdam. Enige tijd werkte zij in \u2018de Witte Jas\u2019 een centrum in Amsterdam, dat medische zorg gaf aan onverzekerde mensen in Amsterdam. Tijdens haar eerdere werk in het ziekenhuis bij de gynaecologie\/verloskunde en nu als huisarts kwam en komt zij nog al eens in aanraking met mensen, die door allerlei omstandigheden op straat of in minder fortuinlijke omstandigheden zijn beland. Iets wat haar altijd heeft geraakt. Zij is diep dankbaar voor alle mogelijkheden, die zij zelf heeft gekregen in haar leven. Momenteel werkt Alice als waarnemend huisarts in en om Amsterdam.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div style=\"font-family: Karla, sans-serif; color: #333333; margin: 0.8em 0px;\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Lez en Alice hebben beiden jarenlange training gevolgd en oefening gedaan in o.a. meditatie (mindfulness) en persoonlijke ontwikkeling. He worked with people who have lived on the streets (e.g. Bristol and London) and he worked as a counselor and coach. Besides that he has a lot of experience and he is trained in setting up projects in the community like youth centers, a skatepark and many other projects. At the moment he is active in volunteer projects with people with e.g. autism and Down-syndrome. Lez is a \u2018buddy\u2019 for many people and he works with his heart. He also uses music and performing arts in his work.<\/em><\/div>\n<div style=\"color: #333333; font-family: Karla, sans-serif;\"><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/div>\n<div><em><span style=\"color: #333333; font-family: Karla, sans-serif;\">Alice also has a lot of experience working with people being a doctor. She traveled a lot over the world. She lives her whole life in and around Amsterdam. For a while she worked in a center called \u2018the white coat\u2019, which provided medical care to people who cannot afford health care in Amsterdam. During her work earlier on in the hospital in Amsterdam and also now as general practitioner she has met many people who ended up in less privileged circumstances. This has always touched her heart. She is very grateful\u00a0for all the chances she got in her life. At the moment Alice works as freelance general practitioner in and around Amsterdam.<\/span><\/em><\/div>\n<div style=\"color: #333333; font-family: Karla, sans-serif;\"><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/div>\n<div style=\"color: #333333; font-family: Karla, sans-serif;\"><em>Lez and Alice both are trained in and practiced meditation (mindfulness) and personal development. Aanvankelijk was het idee om in 2011 tijdens onze eerste reis naar Nepal 100 blokfluiten op straat uit te delen aan kinderen, die op de straat leven in Kathmandu. Dit om hen te inspireren muziek te maken om geld te verdienen en daarmee een positief zelf gevoel te geven.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div style=\"font-family: Karla, sans-serif; color: #333333; margin: 0.8em 0px;\">\n<div>\n<div><em>About the name Pennywhistle Project Foundation. During our first trip to Nepal in 2011 we wanted to give out a 100 pennywhistles to children who live on the streets of Kathmandu in order to inspire them to make a living and to give them a positive sense of self.<\/em><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/pennywhistleproject.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/cid_4522C8EF-DE4F-48D7-A57E-D9CF173A6A21-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"cid_4522c8ef-de4f-48d7-a57e-d9cf173a6a21\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">Eerste bezoek aan het kinderhuis \u2018HOPE-foundation Nepal\u2019 met Iman Lama (oprichter van het kinderhuis) en Lez;<br \/>\n<em>First visit of the children home \u2018HOPE-foundation Nepal\u2019 \u00a0with Iman Lama and Lez (2011}<\/em><\/div>\n<p>Tijdens deze eerste reis werden wij vergezeld door Linde ten Broek (vriendin en filmmaakster) die in Nepal een documentaire genaamd \u2018Een reis over geluk\u2019 maakte als lesmateriaal voor het Lager Onderwijs in Nederland. In deze film zijn vele kinderen ge\u00efnterviewd, die vroeger op straat leefden en die nu in een kinderhuis wonen. Centrale thema: \u2018Wat zijn jouw dromen\u2019. Ook waren Lez en Alice actief in een medical check-up (BUNCH-project) in het zuiden van Nepal (Chitwan). In deze reis kwamen wij Iman Lama in Kathmandu tegen. Iman Lama had net een klein kinderhuis opgericht genaamd de \u2018HOPE-foundation Nepal\u2019. Het huis had nauwelijks financi\u00eble middelen. De kinderen, vier jongens en later zes jongens, hadden ook nauwelijks kleding. Lez en Alice besloten dit kinderhuis te gaan steunen en 10 vrienden te vinden die een bedrag van 10 euro per maand op een rekening wilden storten, zodat er in de huur van het toenmalige huis voorzien werd. Tevens werd met groot succes de eerste kleding inzamelingsactie gestart en 3 dozen met jongenskleding naar Nepal verstuurd.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Zo is het begonnen\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026.<\/p>\n<div style=\"font-family: Karla, sans-serif; color: #333333; margin: 0.8em 0px;\"><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div style=\"font-family: Karla, sans-serif; color: #333333; margin: 0.8em 0px;\">\n<div>Een jaar later in 2012 vond het eerste kinderconcert plaats, vijf kinderhuizen kwamen samen met mensen, die nog op straat woonden op een plein naast de Stupa in Boudhanath (Kathmandu) en maakten muziek voor de \u2018Mensheid\u2019. En zo werd het initi\u00eble \u2018pennywhistle plan\u2019 gerealiseerd, een ontroerend kippenvel momentje!<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div style=\"font-family: Karla, sans-serif; color: #333333; margin: 0.8em 0px;\">\n<div style=\"color: #333333; font-family: Karla, sans-serif;\">Met liefdevolle hulp en steun van velen (op allerlei verschillende manieren) is het Pennywhistle Project gegroeid. Zonder dat was en is dit alles niet mogelijk. She made a documentary for Dutch primary\u00a0school called \u2018A travel about happiness\u2019. She interviewed many children in different children homes who used to live on the streets. Central theme was: \u2018What is happiness for you?\u2019 Lez and Alice also participated in a medical check-up (BUNCH-project) in the South of Nepal (Chitwan). During this first trip we met Iman Lama in Kathmandu. Iman just started a small children home called \u2018HOPE-foundation Nepal\u2019. The children, four boys and later six boys, only had the clothes they were wearing. Lez and Alice decided to support the home. We tried to find ten friends willing and able to donate ten euro\u2019s a month to cover the rent of the house they were living at that moment. Back in Holland the first collection of clothes was started, three boxes with boys clothes were send over to Nepal.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"font-family: Karla, sans-serif; color: #333333; margin: 0.8em 0px;\">\n<div style=\"color: #333333; font-family: Karla, sans-serif;\"><em>That is how it all started\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026<\/em><\/div>\n<div style=\"color: #333333; font-family: Karla, sans-serif;\"><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/div>\n<div style=\"color: #333333; font-family: Karla, sans-serif;\"><em>A year later in 2012 the first children\u2019s concert was held on a big square near the Stupa in Boudhanath (Kathmandu). Children of five different children homes came together with people who still lived on the streets in order to make music for \u2018Humanity\u2019. And so the initial \u2018pennywhistle plan\u2019 was realized. A very touching moment which gave us goosebumps.<\/em><\/div>\n<div style=\"color: #333333; font-family: Karla, sans-serif;\"><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/div>\n<div><em><span style=\"color: #333333; font-family: Karla, sans-serif;\">With loving help and support of so many people in so many different ways the Pennywhistle Project Foundation has been grown. \u00a0All of this was and is not possible without that.
